This was our first experience with last minute booking and the selection of hotels was rather limited and this hotel seemed to meet all our requirements (at least 4*, right at the beach, kids friendly, waterslides, family room, flights at reasonable times) and had vacancies for a group of 4 (2 adults, 2kids).
References we had read before we made a booking make us hesitant if we are staying in the same hotel as previous reviewers or we're just having the bad luck with the room or we're just simply used to a different level of accomodation/service than the majority of visitors.
Guests seemed to be mostly Polish and British, some German, Dutch and French and Czech as well.
Hotel is conviniently only aprox 30mins from the airport. We arrived to the hotel 2:35pm local time and we were one of two families checking in at the same time. Receptionist only said welcome, can't recall if she even smiled and passed a paper to be filled and a pen, without saying anything. Than we were given a key (A real KEY, not a card, one key only, asked for second, wasn't available, didn't get one), was told a room number, showed on the map where to find our building, given voucher for a free 15mins massage (adults only and have two be booked within first two days of stay, haven't used it) and that was the end of check in from her side. I had booked a water kettle via email, so I asked for it. Receptionist looked into some papers and said that she will have to send house keeping as she doesn't think she has one while looking into some cupboard and finding one, gave it to us and again was ready to send us off. I asked about beach towels, and was told that she doesn't have any and told me towels are available each day between 10am-2pm. After kindly explaining her our kids can't wait to go for a swim-they were so excited (we arrived 2:35pm exactly so plenty of time till evening) she asked how many I want. (Not how many we'd like but "how many do you want"-I hope this was language barrier "only"and not rudeness) Obviously I asked for 4, she said she's not going to give me 4 (as she -allegedly- haven't had 4) and gave me 3 and a card to pick the additional one next day.
Overall check in experience-we felt like intruders rather than guests. Not the best first experience. (Expecting someone to assist us with luggages didn't even cross our minds after the initial experience.)
Trying to warm the water in the evening in the kettle - when I turned it on the all electricity went down in our room. Went to the reception, they didn't even try to say they are sorry or something appropriate however promised to bring one in 15mins. Had to call back to urge them 25mins later as our two year old was really tired and demanding of her milk formula. Also asked them about one of the beds as in the meantime we found out it's broken. Was advised to show it to the housekeeper when she comes with the kettle. Housekeeping lady brought the kettle aprox 5-10mins later and when trying to show her the bed and to explain the problem as I was advised, she ran off, didn't spoke any english... had to call reception and was advised to tell so to the maintenance guy (who was on his way to fix dvd player- that hasn't worked either).
ROOM
Stayed in one bedroom family room in the ground floor, building 6, room 359.
Spacious, front room/hall had two folding beds for kids, the bedroom (two single beds next to each other) but thats the one and only positive one could say about this room.
It is very simple, outdated and in a ran down condition. Bathroom had a showercorner and a toilet, dont rely on the hairdrier, its ancient, and if you do not want to spend a lifetime using it, bring your own.
Furniture very worn out and shabby, comming apart here and there. Old TV, dvd hasn't worked at first.
The smell that hits your nose when you enter the room-stingy mold, stale, old... Tried to help it by opening doors, windows, simply anything, hasn't helped at all.
Airconditioning- very dirty and had black mold in it, smell in the room worsend when turned on, had to ask tvoce to have it clea
